Oak Park

Oak Park is a beautiful collection of neighborhoods at the base of the Simi Hills. If you’re house hunting, it’s definitely worthwhile taking a drive up Lindero Canyon or Kanan to explore this wonderful area. Oak Park is actually an unincorporated part of Ventura County — the largest such area within the county — with a population of about 14,000. Through the years, Oak Park residents have voted not to become its own incorporated city, and also not be annexed by Thousand Oaks, so if you fall in love with area know that you’re joining a community of very independent-minded people!

A lot has changed since the early days when Oak Park was served by police and firefighters from nearby Ventura County cities, and when the schools were part of the Simi Valley school system. Now, children go to schools operated by the Oak Park Unified School District. Three elementary schools — Brookside, Oak Hills and Red Oak — Medea Creek Middle School and Oak Park High School are highly rated schools with active parent involvement.
